Whatcha Say Single Review: Whatcha Say by Jason DerüloCurrent R&B sensation Jason Derulo has been firing up the music scene lately. The Florida-born R&B artist scored his first #1 with Whatcha Say which has now reached the ‘Double Platinum’ certification. This post will review the aforementioned hit by Jason Derulo.

Sampling Imogen Heap’s Hide and Seek single, Whatcha Say does sound like it got some heavy treatment from the production crew. This can be a downside actually. Heavily sampling a song that came from another artist compromises the rich talent that the performer has to offer. Still, you have got to admit that Derulo succeeded in transforming a very pleasant song into something that is catchy and clever.

This transformation is the strongest suit of Whatcha Say. The cleverness shines through the harmonies seamlessly created by Heap’s synths. Meanwhile, the catchiness is obviously present through the brilliant repetition of the ‘Whatcha say‘ line.

The track arguably shows off Derulo’s immense talent. The harmonies are pretty great as well. The pop hook does a very fine job in treating the senses of the listener. Whatcha Say absolutely is a great track. The meshing of Imogen Heap’s Hide and Seek and Jason Derulo’s track paid dividends. Whatcha Say definitely is worth a listen – that is if you want a track that can really satisfy your cravings for R&B material albeit a heavily-produced one.
