As you people know, I have featured Natalia Kills before in my older blogs thanks to Ken giving me a chance to hear her promo material entitled Zombie. I got the chance to ask some questions to Natalia Kills and I would like to share the interview below. The questions of mine are in bold format while Natalia Kills’ answers are in italics. 1. What was the inspiration for the Natalia Kills persona that you have now?
Well firstly, I am Natalia Kills… its not a persona or a character that has been invented. My name is Natalia and my album is titled “Perfectionist”… its about who i am, and who we all are; people trying to have the best life they possibly can, regardless of the disappointments that go with it. So I thought, what do you do when you to make everything perfect, when you want to be the best?… You kill it. Ergo Natalia Kills ha ha!
2. Which do you prefer: Chocolate or Peanut Butter?
Chocolate. English Cadbury’s preferably…
3. Who are your musical influences?
Kate Bush, Depeche Mode and Prince. I like pop music with a dark emotion behind it… I like music with the drama of real emotions. I also love listening to film soundtrack music. The more drama, more suspense, the better!
4. What is the album that you just love listening to continuously?
I listen to Kate Bush’s “Hounds Of Love” on repeat… I also love Michael Jackson’s “Bad” record.
5. What do you think is the greatest music video of all time?
I like quite a lot! I love Jay-Z’s 99 Problems video by mark romanek… and Marilyn Manson has some beautiful videos too!
6. How would you describe your music to people who have not known it yet?
People have describe my music as “Dark Pop” which I suppose is a good way to put it. My music is as dramatic as the lyrics i write… and they can be quite challenging and confrontational sometimes. I have songs on my album called “Love is a Suicide” and “If I Was God”… I don’t hold back, if i think it, i’ll write it.
7. Christian Aguilera or Lady Gaga? Why so?
Lady Gaga… we’re on the same record label, Cherrytree/Interscope…
8. What can people expect from Natalia Kills in the future?
Expect my album “Perfectionist” this year (2010)… expect my first single in the summer… expect more episodes of my show that i’m writing and directing “Love, Kills xx”…
9. Do you have any message out there for your fans in the Philippines?
I can’t wait to see the Philippines and perform for you guys! Its going to be wild!!
10. Last but not the least, would you mind sharing a random fact about yourself?
I have a dog named Dracula… and I’m obsessed with Salvador Dali and Mae West…
