After three years of making fans wait for their much-anticipated comeback single, Maroon 5 finally decided to stop the anxiety and release a new single. The new single is entitled Misery and will be part of their soon-to-be-released album Hands All Over.
Frankly, I was not immediately convinced or overwhelmed by this track after an initial listen. However, the funky bass that has been a trademark of the Los Angeles band rises up from the grave and finally convinces me that the band is back. Adam Levine continues the increasing levels of brilliance with his lush vocals. The chorus is thoroughly entertaining and keeps the song freaking amazing. Misery‘s sound lies between that of She Will Be Loved and Makes Me Wonder – meshing bluesy sounds with pop rock elements.
Ultimately, an absolute radio killer though some people may be caught off-guard with this. But hey, Maroon 5 is great doing this type of material and we should just be grateful that they amazingly excel at it.
