An a-a-a-amazing fr-fr-free single from Fefe Dobson

Published on August st, 2010

The Canadian artist who brought us Ghost is back with a new single. The single has a title of Stuttering and will be released on September 7. Subsequently, Stuttering is actually the fourth single for the still unreleased Joy album of Miss Dobson. As an additional bonus, Stuttering could be acquired for free if you share the news via Facebook or Twitter (thank goodness social media is alive and kicking).

The lovely piano opens the song which only gets more interesting once the beats make their presence known. What makes the piano a key component of the single is that they could actually be heard throughout the duration of the whole track. However, some elements in the track are reminiscent of other pop tracks. The chorus may remind one of a Kelly Clarkson song named ‘Behind These Hazel Eyes.’ The catchy yet nonsensical repetition (a proven and tested formula for a pop song to be successful in modern times) of the “oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-ay-ay-ay-ay-ay” may remind one of Iyaz’ ‘Replay.’

Similarities aside, it is still safe to say that Stuttering is actually a solid pop offering from Fefe Dobson. A combination of some familiar pop elements or instances should not turn off potential listeners. Rather, such combination actually joins forces to make the track a treat to the senses albeit the freshness gets tainted.
