Pumping the speakers with that very infectious line ‘Oh na na, what’s my name?,’ Rihanna’s latest single, a collaboration with Drake entitled What’s My Name which is included in Rihanna’s upcoming fifth studio album Loud is definitely a charming and delectable offering. Without a doubt, I have high expectations to do well in the charts especially with the production help given from the one and only Stargate.
What’s My Name reminds me of the earlier material by Rihanna that have given her so much success. Everything fits so smoothly into every nook and cranny of the song just like Drake’s rapping which is definitely hip-hop but does not overpower Rihanna being an R&B artist. Balance is a key in pop tracks and this latest offering by Rihanna certainly has it. Stargate’s production work is simply remarkable and allows Rihanna to show off those downright killer vocal ability that she has. This is a catchy offering by Rihanna and honestly, the balance in the track makes it better than Only Girl (In The World).
Offerings like What’s My Name are reasons why Rihanna should forget her Rated R days. Stop the heavy eyeliner and Rude Boy may be a grower but it just sucked.
