This is the second part of the list consisting of 100 songs that made a huge mark in the year 2010. Again, the songs in this year’s list are now ranked in order. If you want to know how the list will eventually pan out, there is the primer. If you want to read the previously posted first part, then here is the link: Part I. Let us now get the ball rolling again, shall we?
#90 Call of the Wild – Florrie
From: Introduction
Florrie makes it into the list with Call of the Wild, one of the tracks included in her Introduction EP. Call of the Wild features fast-pace that does not compromise the whole listening experience. I expect Florrie to flourish in the year 2011. Songs like Call of the Wild prove that she can do it.
From: Winner Stays On
“Put your hands up / Take it to the floor / You already give me the green light baby” This opening line got me interested right away in hearing this offering from Roll Deep. This track is a party smash and will definitely give the listener a good time.
From: Thank Me Later
Canadian rapper Drake enters the list at #88 with Find Your Love. The lyrical content is one of the best that I have ever heard from the rap genre. The catchy chorus that the track possesses also helps. I guess we can see Drake achieving more success in the future.
From: Outta This World
The song may be outrageously cheesy but it works. I think this track is definitely better than The Club Is Alive (this is really rubbish in my opinion). The way the members of the group blend their voices in the track is downright superb. This track became one of my guilty pleasure tracks due to the chorus. This is, without a doubt, one of the best offerings from JLS.
From: The Listening
Lights Poxleitner’s Saviour cracks the list at #86. The pulsating beat that the track possesses soothes the senses. The track may have some traces of auto-tuning in it but all ends well because the auto-tuning only enhances the overall listening experience.
#85 Do It Like A Dude – Jessie J
Info: This is Jessie J’s debut single
Jessie J has already won a Critics Choice Award at the BRIT Awards with this track. I think it is really early for her to receive such an award (Ellie Goulding experienced the same thing last year and I felt it was also early after some analyzing). She will still be an artist to watch in 2011 though. You know you are doing something right when you have 5 million views at YouTube.
#84 In For The Kill – La Roux feat. Kanye West
From: La Roux
The original version of the track may have been released in 2009 but the remix featuring Kanye West was released in 2010 so it makes the list. The remix gives the track an urban vibe with the presence of Kanye West. The original is better but the remix is still good.
#83 Selfmachine – I Blame Coco
From: The Constant
I honestly do not know who the heck I Blame Coco was until I read somewhere that she is actually the daughter of Sting. What I love in the track is the phrase “lonely robot in a wasteland.” This is one awesome electropop treat that one should not miss. Coco Summer definitely has the musical chops just like her dad.
From: Habits
“Oh, oh! / I want some more!” After hearing this track from Neon Trees, I definitely am asking for more. The Neon Trees deserve all the success that they have obtained with the song. In two words, this offering by the band could be described as “bad ass.” Yes, bad ass.
#81 Rolling In The Deep – Adele
From: 21
This is another track in which I have doubts whether it received the right spot in the list. Anyway, Adele’s latest offering lets one hear her sing surrounded by backing singers that sound like they came from a choir. This is one solid track from Adele which again showcases Adele’s power vocals. Simply fantastic.
There you have it. Part III will be published tomorrow. Part IV might also be published tomorrow. Feel free to pinch in your opinions by posting a comment!
