We are past the halfway mark in the blog’s list of memorable songs that came out in the year 2010. Part VI of the list will unveil songs that are ranked from 41st to 50th. Let us get the ball rolling now and I will finally reveal the upper-half of the list.
From: The Fame Monster
GaGa’s Alejandro is not the best track to come out this year. Who would ever forget the video of this track? The choreography is amazing though it felt like watching pornography as well. What I liked best in this track is the repetition of the word “Alejandro.”
From: Joy
The lead single of Fefe Dobson’s new album Joy may remind people of someone named Kelly Clarkson. However, let us not forget that the singer is actually someone named Fefe Dobson. Ghost possesses an appealing theme as well as a killer bridge that pushes the track into the level of pure brilliance. I am also glad that Joy finally got released.
#48 Replace Your Heart – The Wanted
From: The Wanted
This track reminded me of the fun I had while listening to the songs of prominent boy groups back then like the Backstreet Boys and Westlife. The chorus obviously got me sold. Any positive description would most likely fit this offering from The Wanted. Mine would be “bloody awesome.”
#47 Please Don’t Go – Mike Posner
From: 31 Minutes To Takeoff
Please Don’t Go is a very delectable offering from Mike Posner. The track also has fantastic traces of hip-hop supplementing the electronic vibe embedded in the track. In my humble opinion, this track is much better than Cooler Than Me. This is definitely one of the best tracks to come out this year, no doubt.
#46 Until You Were Gone – Chipmunk feat. Esmee Denters
From: I Am Chipmunk
This is one of the best tracks in the year when it comes to displaying balance. If the listener gets tired of hearing Chipmunk’s rapping, Esmée’s charming vocals kick in at the right moment and start unveiling the lushness of the track with great aplomb.
From: Recovery
Not Afraid showed that Eminem is finally back after his previous album totally sucked. The lead single from Marshall Mathers offers more substance than the tracks included in his sixth studio album Relapse. The hook is also infectious and well, Eminem did a great job. What’s not to like?
#44 Bittersweet – Sophie Ellis-Bextor
Question: Will Sophie’s album still be released? Seriously, answer that one.
Anyway, this is one of those tracks that went under the radar for yours truly. What makes things disappointing is that Bittersweet had the ability to go #1 in the charts yet it only peaked at #25. I guess that has been a theme this year: many artists deserve success in the charts yet they could not find any.
From: The Beat Is
The new version of DJ that got released this year is absolutely better than the original version which was included in the album. The subtle changes made in the overall arrangement of the track helps the track a whole lot. Stine Bramsen’s vocals remain fit for dance tracks as well.
#42 Dirty Talk – Wynter Gordon
From: With The Music I Die
Once I heard the line “I am no angel / I like it when you do that stuff to me,” I was sold on this single by Wynter Gordon. The single may rely on synthesizers just like most tracks that got released this year but all ends well as the track is absolutely shining bright. I have to say that the middle-eight is downright lovely as well.
From: Disc-Overy
Tinie Tempah teamed up with Labrinth for Pass Out, the lead single from his Disc-Overy album. I have to say that Tinie Tempah made me interested in listening to UK rap again. It feels so much different especially with the accent from the rappers sounding so great. I just hope Tinie becomes successful in his attempt to crack the U.S charts.
This ends Part VI of the list. The other parts should be published later in the day.
