Sixty songs have been unveiled in the blog’s list of awesome songs that made a mark in the year 2010. It is time to unveil the songs ranked from #31 to #40. Let us get the ball rolling now!
From: Come Around Sundown
First and foremost, I do believe that this track is much better than Radioactive. Second, the track does remind me of the tracks that made Kings of Leon relevant in the mainstream side of things. Lastly, I sincerely believe that Caleb’s voice is the star of this track. Hearing his voice amidst extremely pleasant guitar lines is a great moment absolutely.
#39 Commander – Kelly Rowland feat. David Guetta
From: To-be-released album (Will this be released? I surely hope so)
The tandem of Kelly Rowland and David Guetta started in When Love Takes Over and flourished greatly with Commander, the lead single from Kelly’s still-to-be-released album. This is the track that finally made me believe in Miss Rowland. Her vocals are outstanding here although there is some traces of auto-tune present.
#38 Runaway – Kanye West feat. Pusha T
From: My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
Kanye West may have caused some controversies because of his attitude but let us not forget that the man creates awesome stuff. I do not hate (or dislike with intense passion) Kanye as much as I did in the past, I have to admit. Lyrically, Runaway is superb. This is the rightful anthem for all the *insert profanity here* indeed.
#37 Telephone – Lady GaGa feat. Beyonce
From: The Fame Monster
This is the last GaGa track that will be on this year’s list. Yup, I just said that. GaGa just did not have it this year in my opinion. However, Telephone made me happy as a fan. Hearing Beyonce and GaGa team up was just too good for me to not pass up. The presence of the dial tone is also ace, I have to say.
#36 The Boy Who Murdered Love – Diana Vickers
From: Songs From The Tainted Cherry Tree
The bassline is downright lovely in The Boy Who Murdered Love. If Once has “Once / Once / Once / Once,” The Boy Who Murdered Love then has “Love / Love/ Love/ Love.” Pretty amazing, right? The verses have this undeniable brilliance in them, I have to say.
#35 Stop For A Minute – Keane feat. K’naan
From: Night Train
Keane and K’naan is a tandem that I did not expect to surface this year. The lovely piano dictates the pace in the track. Hearing Tom Chaplin’s vocal mesh with K’naan’s rapping is also a lovely treat that one could get from listening to the track. The tandem, which I thought was not accessible initially, ends up as being accessible largely due to this song.
From: To-be-released debut album
Obsession is one heckuva pop record, I have to say. The guitar riffs do fit perfectly into the track. The “oh-oh-oh-oh” part present in the track reminds me of watching those soccer games on television. The lyrics may get in your face while retaining their charm and wit in the process. Sky Ferreira should have been included in BBC’s Sound of 2011 poll. Yes, I just said that.
#33 Written In The Stars – Tinie Tempah feat. Eric Turner
From: Disc-Overy
The lyrics of Written In The Stars may not be as in-your-face unlike Pass Out but I still think that the quality of the former is still breathtaking. A plus would be that the listener would hear Tinie doing more sensible rapping in the track. The overall polish is great with those nifty piano hooks teaming up with edgy guitar riffs to provide a great listening experience.
#32 The Catalyst – Linkin Park
From: A Thousand Suns
The Catalyst ends up as an original effort from the men of Linkin Park. The overall quality of the track may not surpass that of the band’s past singles such as Faint, In The End, and Somewhere I Belong but I can assure you that The Catalyst is much better than What I’ve Done.
From: Fleshtone
Brave by Kelis is arguably the best track in her latest album. The track has awesome lyrical content embedded in it. This track was actually produced by Will.i.am. Will.i.am does know how to make material that is not crappy. I just hope he gets consistent when it comes to his producing work.
This ends the seventh part of the list. Feel free to post a comment!
