We are almost there. We are down to the last twenty songs of this year’s list. Are you excited? Hopefully, you are. Anyway, let us get this party started.
From: Happiness
I considered Wonderful Life as the best track in Hurts’ debut album Happiness and I still think it is. The instrumentation got me really sold into the track, I have to admit. Theo Hutchcraft’s vocals are filled with goodness all over and did make me feel a bit envious. It is that good.
From: We Are Born
Sia is a very underrated artist in the industry. Just like Robyn, she has not achieved any significant success in the charts. Just like Robyn, she does not deserve experiencing such. Just like Robyn, she also makes very awesome tracks. Clap Your Hands happens to be one of them.
From: Lovekiller
“You’re a lovekiller / You’re a love…lovekiller” That has to be the best bit of this track by Swedish musician Darin. This song proved that Darin can make a power ballad and be great in doing such material. This has been one of the many tracks that got lots of plays in my players and I have to say this track totally deserved all those plays.
From: Progress
The Take That songs that I loved most before The Flood came out were just Back For Good and their cover of the Bee Gee’s How Deep Is Your Love. However, when The Flood got released, I have to say that it is now one of the tracks that I really love from one of UK’s prominent groups. Hearing Robbie Williams’ voice is a huge plus, I have to say
Trivia: I love this song more than I Wish
The best line of this offering from Mini Viva would be “Hips, lips, fashion status!” Make no mistake about One Touch. It is simply an infectious and fantastic record. The single is also produced by the one and only Xenomania and I guess that should be enough for one to expect greatness from this record. It is just sad that Mini Viva have disbanded without even experiencing some big time success.
From: Body Talk
I have to admit that I think I made the wrong call in giving this song 4 stars in my review. Initially, I was not really liking the new version of Indestructible. Yes, I did prefer the acoustic version of the track more initially but eventually, the track grew on me and I liked it very much.
#14 Crossfire – Brandon Flowers
From: Flamingo
I was surprised to see Brandon Flowers do a solo record even though he still had The Killers at his disposal. Crossfire pretty much gave the fans everything that they used to hear from The Killers albeit done solo this time around. Brandon Flowers certainly knows how to capitalize his talents and this single proves that.
#13 All The Lovers – Kylie Minogue
From: Aphrodite
This track from the one and only Kylie gave me a sense of fresh air. After hearing lots of tracks utilizing the dreaded auto-tune, All The Lovers suddenly came and presented itself like a new present – wrapped and still with that sense of newness in it. Ladies, this is how music should be done.
From: Hands All Over
Admittedly, some people might be turned off the sound in Maroon 5′s lead single from their Hands All Over album. Adam Levine’s lush vocals are again present in one of the band’s recent tracks. Even though the sound may be different from the band’s past singles, it still is great and just goes to show that the band still has it.
#11 Invisible Light – Scissor Sisters
From: Night Work
Invisible Light may be lengthy but the monologue done by Sir Ian McKellen (yes, the guy who portrayed Gandalf in the Lord of the Rings film franchise as well as Magneto in the X-Men movies) made listening to the track worth it. The monologue made McKellen look like a divine figure for the heck of it.
This is it. The top 10 songs of 2010 will be posted later. Stay tuned!
