Swedish musicians really know what they do when it comes to their craft.
As much as I love listening to his music, I regret that I have not featured Erik Hassle in any way whatsoever in this blog except for a review of his single Hurtful back then.
However, albeit his craft has been downright amazing in many respects, Erik Hassle has not found any significant success recently. Though his debut release Hassle was met with great reception (Hassle ended up peaking at #2 on the Swedish Albums Chart), his most recent releases failed to capture the hearts of the listening public the same way its predecessor did. His UK debut single Hurtful only peaked at #57 in the UK Singles Chart while Pieces, the repackaged edition of Hassle, failed to chart.
If such is the case when it comes to Erik Hassle’s releases, one might ask “Is he doing anything wrong?” The answer to such question is a huge no. Honestly, I think this can be attributed to the people not being ready at all when it comes to Erik Hassle’s craft.
His latest single wants to change all of that.
His latest single, entitled Are You Leaving, might have just been that single that the listening public will end up playing repeatedly without any concern for its rising play count in their players.
Listeners can (and should) compare Are You Leaving to Robyn (another Swedish musician who has done wonders with her craft) for there really are similarities present with the two tracks. The disco beat is there. Lyrics that talk about heartbreak are also present. Fuse those two elements together and what you get is a great textbook example for “sad disco.” Throw in glorious synthesizers into the mix and the single ends up only getting better.
With Are You Leaving being danceable and gut-wrenching at the same time, expect people to be nodding their heads in approval once they heard this new single from Mr. Hassle. All in all, this is a track that one has to buy immediately. It flaunts crispy production values and everything simply falls into place for the single.
Are You Leaving will be included in Hassle’s upcoming album Mariefried Sessions which will be released on the 23rd of March.
