As If by Sky Ferreira Song of the Week: 99 Tears by Sky FerreiraThere are songs that end up being played in excessive yet healthy amounts weeks after they are released.

The latest ‘Song of the Week’ is fortunately one of them.

If you have not known by now (I assume though that you know what Sky Ferreira has done lately), Sky Ferreira released a five-track EP , the brilliant As If! EP (The Reflective Inklings review). One of the tracks in the EP, amazing and all, is still causing yours truly to wonder why Sky has not released an album. The track is definitely one of the best that I have heard all year long.

The track being described is, as the post title suggests, 99 Tears. Produced by Greg Kurstin (We Are Born by Sia, Ladyhawke by Ladyhawke), the track is arguably the most accessible track in the EP. My love for the track has not wavered weeks after I first heard it. The cheerful track embedded with a very superb instrumentation – xylophones, drums, and electronica all rolled into one delightful mix – shows that Sky is the real deal.

With 99 Tears, I realized that Sky still can be better. The cheerful track should hopefully be the start of many great things pouring for Sky.
