I was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to ask some questions to Ilia Darlin and the product is this: a post featuring nine questions answered by Ilia Darlin! Questions will be in bold format as always.

Hello! How are you, Ilia Darlin?

Hello,I’m very good thanks icon wink I Always Visualize What I Hear The Interview with Ilia Darlin

Please describe your music to new listeners.

I would say it’s an amalgamation of pop, electro and dance music from a neon side of view.

You seem to have a love for making artistic music videos. What was the inspiration for the video of your single ‘Car Crash’?

I always visualize what I hear. I think I have a bit of a synesthetic perception. The lyrics and the whole mood of the song led me to think of the idea for the video. I wanted to have intense saturated colours to match the pop side of the song as well as darker scenes to go with the lurid lyrics and all that with a sense of humour.

How is artistic vision important to you as an artist?

For me it’s the most important and the most magical thing if you’re an artist. It feels orgasmic when you manage to put it out there without any compromises. Artistic vision for me is like a child that you carry and you give birth to. Personally I can finally share all the images, ideas and colours that filled my head all these years.

What do you think of the current state of pop music?

Pop music has always reflected the state of our cultures. Right now I believe it’s a bit too pretentious.

Would you want to update us regarding your future endeavors like future singles, release date of your album and the like?

I’m happy to say I got signed to EMI and I have a lot things coming up. It’s a very exciting and productive period right now and I’ll have a new song out very soon and a new music video. I also got nominated for the “International Greek Woman” category at the Greek “Women’s Awards” which is truly honouring.

Who were your musical influences and why?

I have a very wide range of artists that have influenced me as a person.

I have always admired Maria Callas, loved Madonna, Britney,Kate Bush, Etta James, Rebekah Del Rio, Mariah Carey,B-52′s …

Lastly, what would you like to say to the readers of The Reflective Inklings?

You know I had a very serious accident a while ago and I couldn’t walk for 2 months. It was only then that I realised how much I love life and that I won’t ever take it for granted again. Concentrate on the good things you have in life and make the most of it while you’re here.

Again, thank you Ilia Darlin for answering all the questions!
