Mother Monster has revealed via Twitter that she will be releasing The Edge of Glory as the third single off her upcoming album Born This Way. She mentioned that the release of The Edge of Glory will be the start of the countdown for the album’s release.

I still do not know why GaGa would release a new single. After all, Judas just recently got its video released. Most probably, The Edge of Glory will simply be a promo single meant to advertise the album before its release. She has done this before with The Fame Monster so I guess she is taking the same route here.

GaGa has also revealed the cover artwork (pictured above) for the single and I have to say that it should have been the official album artwork for Born This Way. It is much fiercer than the artwork with Mother Monster the Motorcycle plastered on it.

UPDATE: DigitalSpy reports that The Edge of Glory will now be the official third single for the album after the success it garnered in the iTunes charts. ‘Hair’ will actually be released next week as part of promotional efforts for the album. What does this mean then for The Edge of Glory? When will it be released to US radio? I guess let us all stay tuned.
