Most, if not all, of us have heard the 30-second snippet. It is now time for us to hear the whole thing.
Paramore, after undergoing a very messy situation, is finally back with a new single that will be included in the soundtrack of the upcoming Transformers 3 soundtrack. The single is entitled Monster and gives the fans an inclination on how the band will sound like in the post-Farros era.
As I have said before in my post about the snippet for Monster, the track does feel like it came straight out of the band’s All We Know Is Falling album. I have to say that the band has successfully moved on from the drama that they underwent through. The music remains crisp with the angst that has made the band relevant throughout the years remaining intact. The hook possesses lovely qualities and simply packs a lot of punch. If this is how the band will sound in the post-Farros era, I have to say I actually dig it.
Lyrically, the track may be putting some things to perspective. Hayley Williams seems to take a veiled dig at the Farro Bros. for portraying her as the ‘villain’ during the entirety of the messy situation that happened. With a part that says “I’m only human / I’ve got a skeleton in me / But I’m not the villain despite what you’re always preaching / Call me a traitor / I’m just collecting your victims“, one has to wonder if there is any hate or animosity going on in the track. Honestly, I do not think so. Most likely, it is just Hayley’s way of sending her message to the brothers that they are now much stronger as a band after their departure.
So in conclusion, Monster is a very edgy track that only shows that Paramore still has it despite all the drama that occurred. Fans of the band who disliked Brand New Eyes will most likely dig this new offering from the band.
