After unveiling herself as the “quiet Girls Aloud member who actually can sing” with her very impressive single Beat of My Drum (The Reflective Inklings review), Nicola Roberts will be back soon with a new single entitled Lucky Day. Lucky Day is actually one of the first songs that Nicola wrote for her debut solo album. The impressive help she has been receiving continues to pour in as well. If Beat of My Drum had Dimitri Tikovoi and Diplo as producers, Lucky Day then shows off proudly that it is actually produced by Dragonette (yes, the band who released Fixin To Thrill in 2009).
A snippet of Lucky Day has also surfaced. From the looks of it, fans should not expect a track that is as upbeat as Beat of My Drum. The drums add sharpness to the track, I have to say. Vocally, Nicola again shows why some people were actually happy that she is doing this solo career. The “Woah woah woah woah” parts are actually okay – reminding me of this certain trend going on in current music (re: Who Says by Selena Gomez & The Scene and other tracks).
Lucky Day will be released on September 18 which is roughly eight days before the release of her debut solo album Cinderella Eyes. Again, it might not be as upbeat as Beat of My Drum but it still has to be said that the track actually packs a punch. The single artwork just looks weird though.
