Song of the Week: Sweet Nothing by Calvin Harris feat. Florence Welch
Calvin Harris, you have really done it yet again.
After successfully teaming up with Rihanna for the great We Found Love, Calvin finds a new companion who goes by the name of Florence Welch (the lead singer of Florence + The Machine) for his latest single Sweet Nothing. For those who do not know, Sweet Nothing is included in Harris’ third album 18 Months that boasts of collaboration with other ‘established’ artists like Ellie Goulding, Kelis, and even Tinie Tempah.
Truth is Calvin was not that well-known to some people until he did that smash hit for Rihanna. Sweet Nothing, in turn, is a stern test in determining whether Calvin can deliver the goods anew despite the added scrutiny and pressure. Calvin, with help from Florence, delivers exceptionally though so there really is nothing much to worry about. Amidst all the pulsating beats provided by Calvin, Florence convincingly sings “So I put my faith in something unknown / I’m living on such sweet nothing!” in a chorus that should be described as one of the hottest of the year.
Success should continue for Calvin especially after this track gets some momentum sales-wise. I certainly hope that more tracks will come soon from this new duo. If David Guetta has Sia to turn to if a lethal track is needed, I guess Calvin Harris has found Florence Welch.
