Song of the Week: Hollywood by RAC feat. Penguin Prison
Another week is about to be over and I guess it is time to post another ‘Song of the Week.’ The latest ‘Song of the Week’ is something I have heard for quite some time now over the radio. I first heard this track during one of those many travels I had. I remember that my sleepiness slowly vanished while the track was playing over the radio. The DJ did not say what the title of the track was after it was played (and it got me frustrated for a short while to be honest). Fortunately, I managed to remember some of the lyrics and did some Google search. The rest, as they say, is history.
Hollywood features some snazzy production work by RAC. For those who simply love remixes, they might know what they are getting with Hollywood. For those who do not, well, I can say that Hollywood‘s production is very sleek and easy on the ears. Those guitar riffs are what I consider gifts to your hearing capabilities. The instrumentation, as a whole, suits the track just fine and admittedly, I would be delighted even if I just hear the track in its instrumental glory.
Sometimes, collaborations are not really collaborations. What I mean is the featured artist would be just in the track for a very short section of the track and perhaps was included simply for the business side of things. However, this is not the case for Hollywood. Chris Glover (aka Penguin Prison) does not annoy at all in his presence in the track. Rather, he is considered an integral part of the track. His vocals may not be considered as the best ever but they just fit in the track – much like how cheese fits with your potato chips.
In short, I do recommend Hollywood by RAC. You may download it for free on Green Label Sound’s site.
